ABC Die Cutting And Embossing in Denver (ABC), Colorado
installed the AutoClam, an automatic clamshell press capable of running
sheet sizes up to 21.5” x 32”.While this may sound like the beginning of a dry product
announcement, ABC will tell you that its experience was far from ordinary,
starting with a dropped press. Opps…The rigging company that ABC hired accidently rolled
their new AutoClam on its side. As owner, Mike Moravec reported, “This crushed
the electronics cabinet and broke the drive motor off the mounts. It was
easy to see there was more damage as they put the new machine back on the
pallet to return it for repairs. Not surprising it was a total loss.” While ABC worked with its rigger’s insurance company, My
Press Needs prepped a new AutoClam was in stock, knowing that ABC needed the
press immediately for a very specific job run. While My Press Needs prepped the
AutoClam with ABC’s requirements, My Press Needs also tested several new
features and added them to ABC’s new AutoClam. Moravec said, “Six weeks later and through the holidays we
had a check from the insurance company and a complete new press with
improvements in our plant. The new improvements included an electronic
vacuum valve and eccentric pressure adjustment wheel. Both items are
greatly appreciated... My Press Needs delivered more than I had hoped for.”
Originally, Moravec selected the AutoClam because
of its flat platen, which reduces make ready and setup times. In addition,
Moravec said the AutoClam is manufactured with heavy-duty components and
appears stronger than other half-sheet presses. While strength and durability
are important, ABC also felt that the AutoClam’s design, that included a
delivery system on the bottom and functional components, such as the foil
system, provided ABC with a press that would meet its needs today and in the
future. After the installation, ABC found that they not only bought a
press that would meet their needs, but they also purchased from a company they
could depend on.
