New Crest 40x56 Clamshell Phoenix Packaging Buys A Crest to Replace Old-Style Thomson Press
Phoenix Packaging in Columbia, Pennsylvania purchased the first 40” x 56” Crest™ Clamshell press. My Press Needs LLC expanded its Crest product line to include larger sizes that still offer the tonnage and precision needed to cut corrugated or other difficult materials, such as today’s plastics.
Phoenix Packaging purchased an old-style rebuilt Thomson 20 years ago, but after many years of cutting corrugated it stopped cutting consistently. Operators at Phoenix Packaging needed to constantly adjust their make ready during the job run, costing the company valuable time. Phoenix needed a new press with the same or greater tonnage than their existing Thomson. Yet, there are few options available for a true high-tonnage clamshell press.
“The Crest is the only press that can truly replace the old heavy-duty Thomsons,” said Bill Davidson, Vice President of Phoenix Packaging. “The Crest Clamshell remains flat and parallel on our high-tonnage jobs and we don’t have to adjust our make ready throughout the job run. Not only have we reduced our job setup times from 30 minutes to an average of 6 or 7 minutes, but we eliminated any make ready during the job run.”
